Always consult the manufacturer's removal and installation instructions for your vehicle.
- Hub assemblies are sealed, non-adjustable units that require no periodic attention
- Do not attempt to disassemble the hub. Components may be damaged.
- Do not use damaged parts.
- Special tools and protectors may be required for the removal or installation steps. Refer to manufacturer's specifications and procedures for proper installation and removal instructions, including proper methods for raising and supporting the vehicle.
- On ABS vehicles, disconnect the ABS sensor from the hub before removing the unit. When installing the hub, route the ABS sensor wire according to manufacturer's instructions and connect it to the ABS harness.
- GEN I bearing with ABS to follow instructions from vehicle manufacturer for installation.
- When the brake caliper, rotor, and shield must be removed from the hub unit, hang the caliper out of the way by a length of wire. Do NOT allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose.
- If removal and installation require the partial or complete disassembly of the steering knuckle from the steering components, follow the manufacturer's removal and installation instructions carefully.
- Always use the new hub nut included in the hub unit package, if provided.
- Always replace the knuckle seal and/or O-ring seal if either or both are provided in the hub unit kit. Use the proper seal installation tool. Apply grease to the seal and steering knuckle bore to ease installation of the seal.
- Always follow manufacturer's torque specifications for the flange bolts, axle nut, and lug nuts.
- The knuckle mounting surface and bore must be scraped free of rust and build up prior to the installation of the hub assembly.
Proper maintenance and handling practices are critical. Failure to follow these instructions and other critical vehicle manufacturer's directions can result in equipment failure, creating a risk of serious bodily harm.
